VR Contact Report—Graduation Ethan, accompanied by his parents, was in today as scheduled. Since our last appointment, Ethan successfully completed 24 credits and graduated from high school! Before graduation, with the help of his parents and Coach Boudreaux, Ethan accomplished the following: - Applied to UTI on March 2, 2020, and was accepted.
- Registered with the Disability Services office for accommodations, including extended time for exams, if necessary. (Ethan will rely primarily on his recording app for lectures and screen reader for print materials.)
- Applied for financial aid. Because of Ethan's parents' income, Ethan is not eligible for grants. His parents will provide Ethan assistance toward room and board.
We completed an Individual Plan of Employment (IPE) on this date. The IPE outlines VR assistance toward the costs of the necessary training and required tools. VR, Ethan, and his parents entered into a cost-share arrangement: Service | Responsible Party | | Room and Board Costs | Mom and Dad | | Tuition and Fees | VR | | Tools | VR and Ethan (Ethan will use his wages for his summer employment to pay his share) | An authorization for services was completed on this date. This counselor will look forward to hearing from Ethan upon the completion of his first semester. Ethan was reminded to bring along a copy of his grades and to contact me should he have any questions or concerns. A Recap of Ethan's Journey Did we accomplish what we set out to do? Because of the preparation provided through Pre-ETS, we can confidently anticipate that Ethan will graduate from his training program, get a satisfying job, and pay taxes. Some of those tax dollars will help another student like Ethan do the same. One student at a time, we are closing the achievement gap. Well done, Ethan! Bravo, team! Encore!
