What if you're not that familiar with a specific disability, the functional limitations that stem from it, or the typical accommodations for it? Or, what if a student asks for information on a job about which you know nothing? For example, what does a forensic anthropologist do? The good news is the answers are at your fingertips!

As noted at the beginning of this module, we have selected a credible online site, CareerOneStop.org, as a starting point from which we can access career information (Get My Future), disability information (Job Accommodation Network), and disability history and rights information (NCWD/youth.org).

See the illustration below.

Image of parent website, CareerOneStop, with arrows leading to two pages: 1) GetMyFuture, and 2) "Workers with Disabilities. Two more arrows lead from last page to: NCWD/Youth and Job Accommodation Network

If it works better for you to list all four sites separately somewhere or type their names into your browser search field, please do! Regardless of how you get to them, they offer credible information without too much digging. The addresses are listed below:

Single Starting Point (to all sites listed below)

Career Exploration for Youth (Get My Future)

Disability Information (Job Accommodation Network)

Disability History, Rights, and Leadership Information for Youth (National Consortium on Leadership and Disability for Youth)

Information Scavenger Hunt

Now, let's go on an information scavenger hunt to familiarize ourselves with the site's content, starting with the career information site GetMyFuture. Ready? Let's go!

Update:In the graphic above,"NCWD/Youth" is listed as a link on the Career One Stop website. However, NCWD was decommissioned at the end of its grant funding. The same information is now available at the National Consortium on Leadership and Disability for Youth via the link above. (May 26, 2022)
