Debra and Miss Sue met with Savannah to review the plan and the checklist to ensure she understood the expectations. Savannah seemed nervous. When asked, Savannah admitted, "I'm not sure I understand what to do." She was assured that Miss Lisa would be there to help her. Savannah smiled and said "Okay! That's better."

Schedule:

3:30 pm to 5:30 pm, M-F, 10 hours/wk. for four weeks. (Total: 40 hours)

Job Tasks

  1. Report to work as scheduled, put on a store apron, and clock in.
  2. Load a cart with the canned goods set aside for her shift by the owner.
  3. Match the cans in the cart to those on the shelves. (using the colors, pictures, and words on the labels).
  4. Set the box from the cart on the floor, remove the old cans from the shelves, and place them in the basket.
  5. Put the new cans from the box on the shelves, face the labels forward and push them back, making room for the old cans.
  6. Put the old cans in the cart back on the shelf, facing the labels forward.
  7. Let the owner, Erika, know when she is finished. (Depending on time, Erika may assign more boxes or send Savannah home.)

Coaching Strategy

  • Lisa will use repeated hands-on demonstration with verbal prompts to teach the tasks.
  • As Savannah masters elements of a task, Lisa will fade out the hands-on demonstration and use verbal prompts only.
  • When Savannah demonstrates she can do the entire series of tasks independently, she will fade out, and Erika will become Savannah's go-to person should she have a question or require help.

Transportation Plans

Savannah will walk from school to work at the beginning of her shift.

Mom or Dad will pick her up at the end of the shift.
